Michael E. Gardner received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2001. He earned his law degree in 2004 from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where he graduated second in his class. While in law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Missouri Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. After graduating, he clerked for the Honorable Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. of the Supreme Court of Missouri. 
Admitted to practice in Missouri state and federal courts, Michael maintains a general civil and criminal practice, including the areas of personal injury, business and real estate litigation, workers' compensation, insurance defense and estate planning. He also draws on his experience at the Supreme Court of Missouri in his appellate practice.
Michael’s academic honors include the John S. Divilbiss Prize in Civil Procedure, the Judge Roy W. Harper Prize in Constitutional Law, the William M. Howard Award in Conflict of Laws, the Gerald P. Fleischut Award in Labor Law, the Edward H. Hunvald Student Prize in Criminal Justice, the C. Lawrence Leggett Prize in Insurance Defense and CALI Awards for the highest grades in Criminal Litigation Skills, Criminal Procedure, Employment Discrimination and Trial Practice. 
Michael was raised in Kelso, Missouri, and is a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. He is married to the former Kristi Hillman, and they have one son. Michael and his family attend St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. He is a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 11205 and the Cape West Rotary Club.
